Highlights of the ground-breaking ceremony of The Chosen Crown University

11th April, 2018 will remain evergreen in the hearts of the people of Mgbidi and Imo state in general.

The early morning of that day was not too bright as there was heavy down pour the previous night, however, as the day progressed, the heavens smiled on earth and there was brightness everywhere. The preparation that started about a week ago was rounded off that day. Some of the villagers were contracted to dig the ground upon which the foundation of the Chosen Crown University would be laid, while that was going on, the Chorus leader was called upon to lead choruses. As the praises were going on, God was being glorified. Not too long, the General Pastor arrived. Then we waited for the arrival of the executive governor of Imo state, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

The G.O who doubles as the founder of Chosen Crown University was welcomed to the event by the members of The Church council

The event moderator, Pastor Sam Obijiaku mounted the stage, at this stage, His Excellency arrived, and he welcomed the governor.

As soon as His Excellency arrived, the National Anthem and Pledge were recited. Then an official from the Imo state government House recited the Imo state national anthem.

Thereafter, Pastor Sam Obijiaku  led the participants in prayers for the proper inauguration of  event.

Some of the dignitaries that accompanied the Governor  to the event were: Commissioner for Special duty, Hon. Emeka Benjamin; the Commissioner for Tertiary and non-formal Education, Hon. Prof. Mrs. F.C. Emenalo who later gave a speech; the Commissioner for Environment & Natural Resources, Hon. Dominic Mbamulu; Chairman Mgbidi Peoples’ Forum, Dr. Sir. S.C. Akukwe who later gave an address; T.C Chairman Oru west, Hon. Obinna Okoro; Member Representing Oru-west, Imo State, Hon. Donatus Onuigwe; Deputy Chief of staff (operation), Hon. Uju Kingsley Chioma.

The traditional rulers present were: HRH Eze Amatom Obinyere, Ogbuehi Nkeziem XII of Etiti-Mgbidi, Oru-west and HRH Eze A.C. Obi (JP) Eze Ubo I of Mgbidi, Chairman Oru-west LGA Council of Traditional rulers.

Furthermore, the founder of Chosen Crown University, Pastor Lazarus Muoka gave an address. In his address, he firstly thanked the government of Imo state for allocating the land to the Lord’s Chosen and equally stated the mission and vision of the school among others.

Thereafter, a short address was made by His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha in which he eulogize the G.O of the Lord’s Chosen for deeming it fit to bring this University home which is unprecedented, notwithstanding that it could have been taken to another state or nation. He further said that building the school in this unknown village will announce the name of the village not only to the entire nation but to the world at large. In conclusion, he said that it will make the village to be a beehive of activities and it will provide employment to people of the state as well; according to him, the dividend it will bring to the Village and the state government is enormous.

Then it was time for prayers, the congregation, on the counsel of the  G.O prayed diversely for His Excellency, for God to bless him for the good deed he has done by providing us a place for the university.

Some of the other events that took place during the ceremony include the presentation of songs to welcome both the general Overseer and the governor.

The youth of the community, who came out enmass to show their support and solidarity for the development of their land by this movement assured the G.O and the governor, of their readiness to work hand in hand with The Lord’s Chosen to achieve the goal of building this institution, by protecting their equipment and guarding their workers.

In conclusion, the laying of the foundation stone was done by His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Vote of thanks was given by Chief Dr. Romanus Onye.The chairman, Planning and Implementation Committee of the Chosen Crown University l- Pastor Whoba Ogor gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the church.

Refreshment and closing prayers followed suit.

Thank God it ended in a glorious way.
